Drum Roll Please....

Meet

Zoe! (That’s Zoe with an accent, but i can’t figure out how to do that on here!)

The newest edition to the wakefield clan!

>
She is amazing. Let me explain.

She is a full bred Australian Shepherd.

And she’s 95% potty trained.

The first full day Zoe joined our family, Lance had her... When I came home from school, he informed me that she understood what “Zoe, you need to go potty?” meant, that she needed to potty on the grass... she just wasn’t totally aware that she ALWAYS had to go on the grass. She’s only had a handful of accidents inside. She’s so awesome! I say 95% trained because she still has issues of going potty in the middle of the night.

Reasons why Zoe is awesome:

*She is SO SWEET

*CUDDLY

*She loves people SO much

*She doesn’t bark unless she’s hungry

*She’s learning not to nip (she DEF knows not to nip me - she knows whos boss. ha!)

*She snuggles when we’re in the car

*She’s unbelievably smart

*She’s beautiful

*She’s got a vibrant personality

*She’s gentle-natured

*When she has to go potty, we leave the front door open and don’t have to supervise her at all. She will run out, potty, and explore. She has a very distinct sense that the road is dangerous, so she doesnt even go near it. If people and other dogs walk by, she doesnt freak out, she just wags her little nub of a tail, and she stays only in our yard. When she’s done, she’ll just run back in.

*She NEVER whines

*She’s great when we take her places like Home Depot

*She loves her soft dog bed and only sleeps on that - she’s just like me and knows you don’t sleep well unless its the perfect amount of softness - i think it’s a Coslett thing...glad i could pass that on to her. hahaha.

*When i hold her in my arms, she puts put paws around my neck and tucks her head right underneath my chin. it’s SOOO freaking cute.

*When she's just hanging out, and a person is around, she MUST be touching you atleast with paw (if not her entire body) or else she is NOT content. (looks like we have a lot in common. hahah)

I could go on, but i wont. She truly is a wonderful dog. Emily Winegar WAY hooked it up - she breeds those dogs and generously helped us out with getting Zoe.... So we KNOW she came from a wonderful home and I know the Father (Wiley)... I was teaching Emily homeschool when she aquired wiley. He’s always been a sweet dog...

Don’t get me wrong, Zoe has given us a run for our money a couple of times and Lance and I have argued about who’s turn it is to pick up one of Zoe’s accidents... but it’s so fun. And adorable seeing Lance have a new little BFF.

She’s not an Airedale terrier, but she is amazing and we really love her with all our hearts. I know you want to meet her!

** how we decided on the name Zoe:

Lance isn't a fan of a lot of my baby names ive told him about (NO im not pregs and will not be for a long time. its just fun to play.) So i decided if i found cool french names (since he served in france/belgium) he'd be down for them. As i was looking, i saw a lot of neat names... one of them was Chloe, another Zoe. When we decided we were going to take the puppy, we started talking puppy names. I asked him if he had a favorite person he baptised on the mission, and he answered "Sophie"... while i loved the name, it sounded more like a poodle name...It made me think of the name "Zoe", so i said it out loud and he immediately liked it! (Sing praises here.) So we knew that since we agreed on something so quickly it was destined to be. It was French, spunky, and strong... good thing it COMPLETLY fits our little darling. :)

I also believe that when you name someone/thing it should have a meaning behind it. I don't like things to be aimlessly named.... it gives more purpose... and i had looked up Zoe previously, here's what it means:

is a feminine first name, which came from ancient Greece and means LIFE in Greek.

but it can also mean 'a (means of) living', 'subsistence',

Famous "Zoe's"

Zoe Bell born 1978), New Zealand stuntwoman and actress, known for Xena: Warrior Princess and Kill Bill

, Zooey Deschanel (born 1980), American actress and musician

Zoe Greene (born 1995) Fought lions at age seven

Zoe was the name of several Byzantine empresses. It was later used as the name of one of the Muppets on the children's TV programme Sesame Street.

So.. Zoe is fitting for our little girl all around. :)

Ill write a post later telling you more about the Australian Shepherd Breed.
