Loose change = awesome date night

So I am a terrible blogger, and I should have posted my engagement story two weeks ago. however, life has been so crazy i havent gotten a chance to do anything extra curricular! SOO the story will come soon, i promise! Lance and I decided we were going to end up working ourselves to death....so we made the executive decision to GO and have FUN. And not just dinner and a movie... that's too easy. So we rattled ideas off to each other, and since painting pottery and coloring didn't sound appealing to him, we settled on going Nickelcading.

For those of you who don't know what Nickelcading is, I will explain. Its typically an old warehouse-type place where the awesomeness of 1980's and roller skating rink splendor goes to retire/die. What I mean is, they are all REALLY old school video arcade games that you can play for 2-4 nickels. We walked in this place called "Nickel Mania"...(remember its a Friday night). There was probably a total of 10 other people there, and it kiiiiind of smelled like a mix of Mr. Clean, Clorox, baby throw up and nursing home. So that was fun (especially considering my gag reflex i have.) However, good thing is that our bodies are amazing and usually will adapt to foul odors... Lance and i scrounged around the house for pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters (thanks for the date mom and dad!) and threw them into a plastic baggie which we dumped out on the counter for the Nickel Mania worker to count out. (He was monotoned and didnt even look at us while he was talking... i think he REALLY loved his job.) We were handed a little cup full of nickels and we headed in.

there were so many games!! I remember going to the roller skating rink with dad when i was little and begging for quarters to play Racin USA (which never really worked out because you can't press the gas and break with roller skates on) and pacman....and the stupid claw machine games that you never can win because the claw always is just a little bit too loose or the edges of the claw are a tad bit too smooth... such a jip.

(this was my attempt at trying to be creative with the camera... doesnt work so well when the camera isnt cooperating!)

Anyway. Racin USA was there, a motorcycle racing game, Mortal Kombat, duck hunt, the one where you roll the ball up and try and get it into the rings, the one where you hit the alligator heads with a mallot, aliens, a zombie killing game, Ninja Turtles, the Simpsons, Tekken... OH Tekken... this game sucked up probably half our nickels. it cost 4 nickels to play against someone, and when you died you had to put 4 more in. Apparently we both share a love for virtual fighting games because we were pushing and trash talking each other...haha. of course Lance won every time ( i think it's a boys right of passage to win video games.), except for the very last time when he let me win, but it was so fun. We decided he have to find a way to get Tekken in our lives so we can play it whenever. Do they have that out on Wii yet?

(Lance is so funny with pictures. he makes it a point to make a weirdo face in as many as he an. i dont get it.)
Anyway it was SO much fun. Because we did either player vs player or team games, we never really got tickets.... so by the end of the night when we were turning our tickets in, we only had 40 (which was the "cheapest" amount available... everything else was 100+ tickets. sheesh!)... so i got a plastic ring and Lance picked out a sweet tat.

Our Spoils!

This trip out to ghetto Carrollton was WELL worth it. I really love and adore my fiance!! couldnt ask for a better one. :)

(lance got ahold of the camera, can you tell?)

By the time we were done, it was only 9:30, and we both felt like we should go do something adventurous.... That proved to be difficult since neither of us will break the law and neither of us were willing to do something that might cause us to get hurt (we sound like old people!)... so we decided to go out to Lake Ray Roberts. Back in the day, right past the dam, there was a paved walk way that led down to the rocks and the lake. A few years ago they fenced it off... not really sure why. Maybe people were getting hurt? I don't know. So we decided to be "rebellious" and go down the walk way anyway. We pulled in where the fence was, got out, and discovered a huge hole in the fence. Guess other people had our crazy idea at some point too. So we climbed through. I tried to add an element of excitement to the experience by saying "DUCK LANCE!" every time headlights started getting near us. It worked for a minute until Lance informed me that no one could see us anyway. hahaha. So we walked down the little concrete path, which smelled like skunk, by the way. We reached the water's edge, chatted for a few minutes, and decided we were over getting eaten by mosquitoes. SO we walked back up and went home. SO ADVENTUROUS i know!

(This is Lance attacking my face. is this gross to post? I love him.)

We ended our night by cuddling on the lovesac and watching Juno. I love the quick wit of the movie...but it just seems like all the movies out now are a little raunchy, yes? but whatever. It was a GREAT night and it even ended within BYU honor code hours. :)

**small disclaimer.
we were having camera issues... this is Lance's old camera from the mish, and hadn't been dusted off for a while... so thats why the pictures start out almost ruined...but by the end of the night they were perfect! strange!
